Some Epson printers allow a simple EPROM reset without software. According to an official Epson support page, you can reset the product's EEPROM by holding down the , LF/FF , and Pause buttons while turning on the printer. The product beeps once and restores its factory default settings.
The counter is a precaution to prevent the physical pad from overflowing and causing internal damage. Once this counter reaches a preset limit, the printer locks down to prevent leaks and potential electrical shorts. It also prompts you to contact a service center.
