Because Patch 1.29 changed the map limits and script engines, some very old custom maps built for patch 1.26 may crash. You will need to download updated versions of those specific maps designed for 1.29 or higher.
There is a known issue affecting some players who own the classic CD keys. Blizzard is reportedly aware of the issue and is "looking into it". Until a fix is provided, using the direct Hive Workshop download is the best alternative.
This happens if your game was installed via a direct copy-paste rather than an official installer. To fix this, place the standalone patch executable directly inside your main Warcraft 3 game folder and run it from there.
